 There is a local saying “Maduraiyai sutriya kaluthai kooda verengum pogadhu” which means “Even the donkey that is roaming in Madurai will never leave the city”

Such towering is the value of Madurai

I’ve lived in Chennai for almost 6 months and also been there for summer vacations at my aunt’s place. So, I think I could comparatively prove Madurai is better. Apart from the temples, tourist destinations, shops, malls, theatres, Jallikattu, Jigarthanda, Malli poo, Murugan Idli, KariDosa etc , the below list justifies Madurai is doing absolutely better than Chennai :)

Ignore this if my answers keep repeating the same thing - however, I can’t step back without telling this.

Madurai delivers you with a rich combined texture of urban+rural. A perfect modern polished hamlet is what you can refer my place.

The climate : No scorching heat, no stormy rains, no icebox winters, no dried-up seasons. Every day is the same here for us. I mean, you don’t find many variations in the weather.

Madurai is not affected by major calamities or natural disasters as far as I knew. Even if it is the case, I strongly point out the 1993 Madurai flood. Nothing else in recent years.

Traffic: More importantly, we don’t have to wait at the signals for hours together. It takes roughly around 3 minutes at the max if it is a four road juncture. Lucky us.

The fact that Madurai is smaller compared to Chennai, the places are easily accessible. So, you enjoy carefree transportation.

• Cost of living : A 2BHK can be rented at a decent amount of around Rs.5000. I wonder if this is possible in Chennai.
• Food stalls : The restaurants and food stalls are available at any random time, say even around 1a.m. We prove to be “Thoongaanagaram” [Sleepless city] afterall.
• The rich hertiage : Madurai has a big list when it comes to history. May it be the pandyas or Mir Jafar or Kannagi or Meenakshi Thirukalayanam [Marriage of Goddess Parvati] Madurai’s heritage is high when compared to others.
• The people : People are more friendly & peace loving. It’s not like those as shown in movies, but people here are really peace loving.
• Less Pollution : Chennai has pollution problem, while Madurai has nothing compared to Chennai. It’s a clean metropolitian city.
• Will add more if possible.
