My Best Experience of Using Quora Tamil
To be honest, I found it somewhat difficult to convert my thoughts into words. Though much familiar with my native language Tamil, I caught with guilt when a co-Quoran friend spotted about 40 to 50 mistakes to be edited in my answer! The answer was regarding the plastic ban in
Tamilnadu from this January 2019 onwards.
After such a recommendation for editing the answer, personally, I got to know I should improve my writing in Tamil. As we all prefer communicating in English most of the times at the workplace, or at a gathering where we have to meet up with people of different languages, we ourselves have got re-shaped to be an English speaking commoner! So when asked to converse or compose a write up in our own mother tongue, we tend to struggle a bit.
Choice of Words: I don't know how it was for others, but in my case, it is true that I found little difficulty in the choice of words.
Tamil
Grammar
Usage of appropriate words in correct grammatical form took time for me. The special words taking “Zh” sounds mattered a lot while writing which is usually neglected while we speak.
Tamil Quorans: Before I started writing in Tamil, my mind was like “Why aren't there any of the Tamil-Quora users?” When I read through the answers in the feed, I could rarely find any of the answers by Tamilians. But now, I have discovered a large Tamil-Quoran community.
Passion
for the language
It is here that I recognized how the Tamilians mastered their language. Most of the answers are related to the life and living of Tamilians which absolutely portraits the love and affection they have towards the language.
Tamil Script
Unlike English, Tamil is unique in such a way that it exhibits a vast difference when written rather than we speak. Vanga (meaning: come) is the one which is colloquially preferred but Vaarungal (refers to the same word COME) is the one usually recommended when you write. Such words require a
definite work-out which I experienced while writing Tamil answers.
Learn words
I honestly did not know the equivalent Tamil words for certain
English terms. So, I am much eager to grasp all those words in the
mean-time and also I am happy to have learned a few words till now.
Recognition
I got enthralled each time I wrote answers in Tamil and it was when I
wrote in Tamil, my answers got even more recognized by people ( views to
upvote ratio is satiable)!
The craze for the language: Ultimately, I have realized that I have started craving more for Tamil (read Tamil feeds more often than switching to English feed). Tamil Quora has kept me engaged with its charm!
