Make sure the video is good and entertaining and informative. Keep the quality high and optimize for watch time by keeping it as concise as possible. Cut out and fillers or excess content if possible.

Title 

Have a title that is RELEVANT to your video and explains what the video is about. There are various ways can phrase your title to make it more appealing to viewers, one common way is using an answer to a popular search query so when people search their question your video pops up. Make sure this is not misleading to viewers but actually helpful.

Thumbnail 

Using a custom thumbnail that is both descriptive and catchy can be a big help, big text with nice pictures and a little color are useful to catch the attention of viewers. Once again make sure it is relevant and not misleading.

Description 

The video description doesn't get enough love when optimizing videos but it’s still important. Keep the beginning of the video description informative and attractive to viewers to describe what the video is about and save your social media links for the end. The first few lines are what a viewer will see before they click on your video so it doesn’t help to have a bunch of great information but have all your links before it so potential viewers don’t even have a chance to see that.

Tags 

Tags are the secret sauce putting in work behind the scenes. There are tons of tools that help you find tags but in general I suggest adding tags that are very specific rather than broad. For example if your video is about a new iPhone application you might want to tag 2019 iPhone App rather than iPhone or App as those are way too general and it's unlikely you’ll rank high for either of these . Add as many tags as you can while keeping it relevant and specific, these will continue to help drive views over time.

Make sure once viewers find your video they stay and watch the whole thing, you might get some views by having a catchy thumbnail pr title but once viewers land on the video and don’t watch the whole thing the YouTube system will recognize this and not rank or recommend your video as much.
